putting your "Cool" foot forward

Which foot is your cool foot? Do you have cool feet? Do you clothe your uncool feet with coolness? What is it to be cool? Is it the way that you look? Your state of mind? Can you be cool without even trying? Does coolness require effort? If underneath I am a cool person yet I don't dress like I am cool then can I really be cool? Is coolness subjective? Is there a definate cool?

Why am I so obsessed with being cool?

I think I am just going to be me.

My impression is that coolness is something you either are or aren't. It sort of hit me when I came home from college and witnessed the interaction of Adam with his peers at school: whatever he did, whatever he wore, however he looked, it was cool, just because he did it. And I realized I'd never have that. It wasn't something I could work for or buy; I either was or I wasn't.

But that's OK...with the advent of the internet, everyone's into computers these days, and I have my own place in the turning of the world. :-) It came as kind of a shock to me when I started hearing people talk about modems in everyday conversation and realized I'd just been 10 years too early. I may not be cool, but at least I can be relevant. :-)

And whatever anyone else thinks, Lara and I think you're cool, just being you.

I see what you are saying... but at the same time I think that it is cool that you have realized that maybe you aren't the typical "cool." You call it relevant but I think it's a different kind of cool.

Thanks always for your kind and thoughtful words.

My heart is feeling good reading these postings. "I love you" would be too trite to use in this case. I guess I am just so pleased that you are ALL my kids (whether by birth or by marriage). Happy New Year, and keep blogging!
